Celtics leading NBA final

by Doug Farrand - 6 months ago

BOSTON - Paul Pierce was fully expecting to be in the lineup Sunday, when the Boston Celtics host the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Pierce sprained his right knee when he collided with teammate Kendrick Perkins midway through the third quarter of Game 1 Thursday night. He was taken off the court in a wheelchair before making a dramatic return later in the quarter.

Pierce sparked the Celtics to a 98-88 win by scoring 15 points in the third period -- including back-to-back three-pointers -- after his return.

Beware grannies on Facebook

by Monish Gandhi - 8 months ago

In a fight against mighty corporations and banks, 1800 Canadian investors get together on Facebook and form a powerful interest group. Punchline: they win!

Once again, this shows the amount of impact we can have if we tried to sell to political parties, interest groups, and grassroots initiatives. Not to mention all those lawyers who want more people to sign up to their class action lawsuits!

Interesting article in the Economist ( http://www.economist.com/finance/displaystory.cfm?story_id=11052935):

Following the example of their children and grandchildren, some small investors formed a group on Facebook, a social-networking site, to trade information, provide mutual support and plot strategy. Brian Hunter, the group administrator, says the site turned out to be an “amazing tool”. People who would never have met in real life, from pig farmers and retired loggers to MBA students [...] read more »

The Walkman is Back!

by Lindsay Laroche - 10 months ago

This is far from the walkman I remember.

My old walkman rememinded me more of a tape playing brick than this sleak little number.
And with up to 36 hours of battery life we can avoid the tape warble.

With features likeBluetooth technology,a built-in noise-cancelling system, and technologies to significantly improve sound quality, Sony's new walkman should prove to be ample competition for the ipod.

It shows it's face in Canada sometimes next month (april), and will be available in 4, 8, and 16GB.

It's easy...

by Monish Gandhi - 10 months ago

From Seth Godin't blog ...

"It's really easy to insist that people read the friggin manual. It's really easy to blame the user/student/prospect/customer for not trying hard, for being too stupid to get it or for not caring enough to pay attention. Sometimes (often) that might even be a valid complaint. But it's not helpful.

What's helpful is to realize that you have a choice when you communicate. You can design your products to be easy to use. You can write so your audience hears you. You can present in a place and in a way that guarantees that the people you want to listen will [...] read more »

Macbook Air vs Commodore SX-64

by Lindsay Laroche - 10 months ago

Now I love my Mac's, but this is just funny.

http://www.10dailythings.com/2008/01/30/funny-computing-image-macbook-air-vs-commodore-sx-64/

Other then the fact that this computer is tiny and works, there is nothing great about it.

It has no optical drive, so to install anything you have to have another computer. It has no ethernet port, which means that other computer has to have wireless. It only has one usb port. And then there is the price...

What was Apple thinking?

RIM's new BlackBerry devices now include more lifestyle features like television, music players, cameras and Facebook social-networking software for broad appeal.

While discussing the shift of RIM and its popular BlackBerry towards consumer markets from parimarily business customer base Jim, co-CEO of RIM says: "I think the whole social networking phenomenon is quite substantial."

Jim sits on IGLOO's Board of Directors.
